Using Advanced Planning and Costing to Drive Accountability and Strategy at Children’s Health On-Demand Webinar (12/11/2018)
At Children's Health in Dallas, Texas, a team of financial leaders have started the journey towards an advanced planning and costing approach for their organization's financial planning, analytics and performance management. Children's Health wanted to establish goals that included adopting an agile dynamic planning methodology that could adapt their planning efforts to their changing needs, reducing the time required to develop a budget by leveraging their cost accounting data, and providing more frequent insights to drive action and accountability. In the first steps toward this methodology, leaders at Children's Health also implemented a Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process to utilize and visualize costing data and drive accountability and overall strategy. By leveraging advanced planning and costing tools, Children's Health was able to utilize cost, monthly variance, and key performance indicator data. Leaders were able to use reports and dashboards that minimized back and forth between leaders and stakeholders, to enable a shared understanding of how to drive operational decisions and shape their overall strategy. In this presentation, leaders from Children's Health will discuss some of the major challenges and success stories to come out of this transition to advanced planning, including collaboration with other pediatric facilities, developing a greater focus on financial planning within the organization, and using analytics for better strategy.
